October 2024

On 24th October, members of KMDC came together with Quod for a rewarding day of volunteering at Clitterhouse Farm, a historic community site managed by the charity Our Yard. This volunteer day focused on hands-on work to improve the farm’s facilities and support its mission to strengthen local resilience and social inclusivity.

The day’s tasks included a range of gardening activities, insulating the greenhouse for the winter, weeding and graveling pathways to maintain walking areas for visitors, and planting and pruning new and existing plants. Together, these activities help Clitterhouse Farm remain a vibrant and welcoming space that fosters connections, sustainable living, and cultural engagement.

Our Yard, the charity behind Clitterhouse Farm, aims to build resilient communities across northwest London by conserving and enhancing this heritage asset. It was great to learn more about urban gardening opportunities that offers a model for embedding social value within regeneration efforts, offering opportunities, services, and events that are accessible and beneficial to everyone. Clitterhouse Farm provides a space for community members and small businesses to collaborate on projects that address both social and environmental needs, championing the values of sustainable living, local history, and the arts.

Spending a day at Clitterhouse Farm gave our team valuable insight into the importance of preserving heritage sites while creating spaces that serve modern community needs.
