October 2024

On October 4th, members of KMDC and the wider John Lewis Partnership Build to Rent team volunteered at Ealing Soup Kitchen, a long-standing charity dedicated to providing essential support for the homeless and vulnerable in Ealing. This soup kitchen offers hot meals, clothing, practical help, and a warm place to gather.

Throughout the day, our team engaged in a range of tasks that contributed to the Soup Kitchen’s vital work. We began by sorting and preparing clothes donations, ensuring guests had access to items that would help them face the changing season. We then packed 80 to-go food bags, served over 100 hot meals, and provided tea and coffee to those in need. In addition to these services, we assisted with clean-up and helped run a Bingo game.

Ealing Soup Kitchen’s impact extends beyond the meal service, providing a welcoming space for its guests and a variety of services to address their needs. Beyond the weekend Soup Kitchen, the weekly drop-in sessions on Fridays that include everything from food and clothing distribution to practical services like haircuts, foot care, and showers. Guests can even enjoy creative workshops like pottery, English conversation classes, and wellness activities. For many guests, these sessions provide more than sustenance; they offer a space for warmth, comfort, and connection.

We’re grateful to have played a part in their mission and look forward to continuing our support for organisations like Ealing Soup Kitchen that provide vital services and uplift our communities.
