Alperton Community School became a hub of discussion and community participation as two consultation events took place on May 11th and 13th, providing local residents with the opportunity to share their views on the proposed development plans for Atlip Road.

The proposed project aims to introduce approximately 430 new homes and 350 co-living apartments, along with a high quality community centre, enhanced public open spaces, and improved pedestrian and cycling routes throughout the area. KMDC are working on the project as client representative and Development Manager, alongside a design team including Haworth Tompkins, Quod and Redwood Consulting.

During the events, community members were presented with visuals and the initial proposals for the redevelopment of the site. Representatives from the project team were on hand to address queries, concerns, and gather valuable feedback from attendees.

The proposed buildings, ranging from 3 to 28 storeys, are designed to create a harmonious and vibrant environment for both existing and new residents to thrive. The development seeks to strike a balance between contemporary living and the preservation of community values, ensuring the project aligns with the neighbourhood's unique character.

The community centre was particularly well-received, with local residents recognising its potential to become a central hub for social activities and services. Residents were keen to share a range interesting and insightful ideas for the community space use, which was a key objective in the consultation process.

Improvements to pedestrian and cycling routes were met with enthusiasm as they align with the community's aspirations for a more accessible and environmentally friendly neighbourhood. Attendees also emphasised the importance of maintaining green spaces and ensuring the project's sustainability features, such as renewable energy sources and efficient waste management systems.

The consultation events have been a successful step towards inclusive decision-making, allowing residents to voice their opinions and concerns before the finalisation of the plans. The feedback gathered will be carefully analysed and considered by the project team to ensure that the development aligns with the needs and aspirations of the local community.

As the Atlip Road project moves forward, we remain committed to ongoing engagement and collaboration with residents to create a development that not only enhances the area but also becomes a source of pride for the entire community.
